The hundred and first reason to exercise? Remodel abdominal fat

by | Oct 18, 2024 | Exercise, Fitness & Rehab | 0 comments

Blah blah blah……

You’ve heard a hundred reasons why regular exercise is good for your health. Will it make a difference if you hear the hundred and first reason?

Probably not.

But I’m going to give it to you anyway. (Sorry, that’s my job….)

We know how harmful excess fat is, particularly when it settles in the abdominal region. If you have a high level of abdominal fat – often assessed by comparing the circumference of your waist to your hips — that can pose a significant risk to your health.

Getting rid of some of that fat is a great idea! I’ve shared some effective strategies about how to do that. And you’re probably already aware of a dozen or more other ways to lose fat too.

But now, I’m not even talking about how much fat you’ve got. I’m talking about the internal structure and chemistry of fat.

It’s been proven: if you regularly perform endurance exercise (running, cycling, hiking, etc.) it will lead to the formation of new blood vessels in your adipose tissue and shift fat metabolism into a more active mode. Those changes mean that, no matter how much of it you’ve got, your abdominal fat poses less of a health risk.

One of the strengths of my practice is making sure that the repetitive endurance exercise you’re doing doesn’t put undue stress on your joints. I can help you with postural awareness, rehab exercise, and adjustments to make sure everything is in balance!
